No drug user ever started out with the goal of becoming an addict. Alcohol and drug use start out with casual usage, then become an integrated part of a lifestyle, and eventually overtake your entire life.
From casual drinker to alcoholic:
With alcohol it starts out with Sunday football games, or a few beers at the barbaque. It progresses to drinking on a more regular basis, and eventually becomes a daily habit. For some people it progresses to a constant habit, drinking from the moment of waking up, until the end of the night. The hard core alcoholic walks around in a never ending drunk, being able to blow a blood alcohol content of 0.08 at almost any moment of the day. Nobody wants to become a drunken bum, but some people become just that.
Methamphetamine, the way to SPEED yourself to the bottom:
Speed is the most insidious drug to ever come along. It gives users an initial rush of confidence, energy and euphoria. Just like any initial rush, people become addicted to creating that rush again. You only lose your virginity once, it only gives you a great rush the first time. Once someone is hooked on speed, they will give up everything, and do almost anything to get more of it. It is more insidious than cocaine because it can be manufactured with a little knowledge, lasts longer than cocaine, and produces more of a rush. Speed also speeds up the time it takes to go from a normal life to being a true addict. whereas alcohol can take years to slowly turn a normal person into an addict, speed can bring you to the lowest depths of humanity in only a few months.
